Snowed in....

Two, I guess you would call "great," snow storms of the season this year....so far. The first one fell on Julie's 18th birthday. Just in time for Brett and I to drive home in the storm. It was a very expensive birthday for us. The dinner was great, the drive home not so much. I followed Brett in his car, a little Honda Fit, which did just fine in the snow. My Murano did not do so well in the snow. I guess having two tires that I knew needed replaced soon as well as brake pads didn't help much. Anyway, while on the turnpike, going a slow 35 miles per hour in the storm, my tires lost traction and slide me into the median dividing the highway. Then, after slamming into the median my car spun around and the passenger side hit the median so I got a great view of the oncoming traffic.
Well needless to say Sadie starting crying after we hit and I tried not to freak out as a tractor trailer and four other cars swerved around us. Something was smoking from the front of my car but I still managed to pull it over onto the shoulder. This is what makes sense right? Who in there right mind would keep their car in that situation? Putting myself and daughter as well as the other cars in danger? Well according to the police officer he should have given me a ticket for moving from the scene of the accident. But he didn't, I only got a ticket for driving reckless in inclement weather! Now I get to try to fight this awesome ticket. Scared am I? You bet. He didn't even give me the ticket that night....he just wanted to get out of there, he is going to mail it to me. What a nice guy. Oh ya, and he never even asked me if I was alright or Sadie or anything. He only spoke to Brett.
Thank goodness we were all alright...including my unborn baby, who we got checked out the next morning.
Poor Brett saw the whole thing happen in his rear view mirror and had to slowly stop his car and come running back to get us. Although I was shaken up, Brett acted like it was no big deal and was calm. It only took us just under 3 hours to get home from Exton...normally a 35 min drive. Never again....

So now I am driving around a rental mini van. Needless to say, with this second huge storm I haven't driven around yet :) We have been stuck in the house the past three days with homemade chocolate cake, pumpkin cheesecake muffins, homemade sticky buns and other baked goods I can't seem to stop making and eating. I will look like a round little ball by time we make out of this house!
With this second storm I think we must have a total of over three feet....cuz the snow is over Sadie's head. How long till this all melts? Sadie doesn't even like the snow so it's a waste of my time and energy to dress her up and myself, which puts me out of breathe, just to stay outside for 10 minutes. Ahhhh, snow.
Here is the snow after the second storm, just under the mailbox. And our deck which we should have shoveled I guess. Where is my table??

I also have two stinkin cavities I have to get filled asap. Lord knows I won't have any time once this little monster comes :) I haven't had a cavity in over 10 years. And in other news, my mom was in the hospital over the storm due to a stroke warning she had. She was so miffed about how much money the hospital stay was costing her and how bored she was in the hospital...but thankfully she is alright now. Feb is always the worst month with the worst luck. Can't wait for March!!

Well, except this Feb Jacqui had her son, Gabriel Elijah born Feb 2nd. So one good thing in Feb :)

The homemade sticky buns sound really good! Last time I made cinnamon twists they totally flopped and I said never again. Maybe I just need your recipe : ) Two cavities huh...I hope you can get them filled before the baby. I agree with Susan---Gabriel has a lot of hair (more than Justin even has now) and is darn cute.
